Wedding requirements
for Freeport, Grand Bahama, Bahamas:
Marriage Licence Requirements
Getting married in The Bahamas is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Persons wishing
to be married in The Bahamas must be in The Bahamas at least twenty-four
(24) hours prior to the intended marriage. An application must be made at
the Registrar General's Office located down town. The office is opened
Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 4:30pm. It should be noted that
marriage licenses can not be obtained on the weekends and public holidays.
It is highly recommended that you contact us before coming to The Bahamas,
to see if any public holidays will fall during your visit. Other

such as passports, drivers license,
along with birth certificates, and a Bahamas Government Immigration entry
card. If either party has been married before, a certified court issued
copy of the Divorce Decree (with the court's raised seal) must be presented.
If either party has never been married before, a sworn affidavit must be
done here in The Bahamas before a notary stating the same at a cost of $50.00
each. NO BLOOD TESTS ARE REQUIRED. Marriage license fee is $100.00, and
must be paid to the Registrar General's Office. No credit card, travelers
check or personal checks are accepted. If a minor is being married, parental
consent is required, and the forms can be picked up from the Registrar's
Office. After your wedding has been solemnized in accordance with the Marriage
Act of The Bahamas, Chapter 106, Section 19 - Schedule G, you will be presented
with two certified copies of the marriage certificates. All legal weddings
done in The Bahamas are recognized worldwide.
