The
Bahamas
The Bahamas is a former British colony, having obtained its independence
on July 10, 1973 from Britain. The just under 300,000 Bahamians are of the
West African descent, and are warm and friendly. The number one industry of
The Bahama Islands is Tourism. This industry is truly all natural, as the
Bahamian people are known world wide for their hospitality. We are considered
a Christian Country, and this is echoed in the very PREEMBLE of the constitution
of The Bahamas. Religion is an integral part of The Bahamas, and churches
of all denominations are visited regularly for worship by residents and visitors
alike.
There are some 700 rocks, cays and islands that make up The Bahamas.
The Bahamian people are strong on culture, and twice a year there is
a public display on Bay Street, down town Nassau, and Down Town Freeport,
The Bahamas of the main cultural festivity ... JUNKANOO. Truly, JUNKANOO
is the national festival of The Bahamas. It is a must to see, while you
are here.
A special presentation of Junkanoo can be included in your wedding package
if you wish to have that special touch to your destination wedding.
